To make something worthwhile for those who stumble

Sun May 7, 2006, 8:36 PM
I decided to put something that may offer some insight into my personality rather than updating with a new entry every so often. To me, writing a journal gets a bit redundant after a while.

So, having just recently gotten back into "Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords" (Great game. If you don't have it, buy it. Seriously. You won't regret it.), I'll impart some words of wisdom from the character Kreia, whome I think represents a great deal of my philosophical side.

"It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it."

"If you are to truly understand then you will need the contrast, not adherance to a single ideal"

"How could you ever hope to know the threat you face, when you have never walked in the dark places of the galaxy - faced war and death on such a scale. If you had traveled far enough, rather than waiting for the echo to reach you, perhaps you would have seen it for what it was. There is a place in the galaxy where the dark side of the Force runs strong. It is something of the Sith, but it was fueled by war. It corrupts all that walks on its surface, drowns them in the power of the dark side - it corrupts all life. And it feeds on death. Revan knew the power of such places... and the power in making them. They can be used to break the will of others... of Jedi, promising them power, and turning them to the dark side. The Mandalorian Wars were a series of massacres that masked another war, a war of conversion."

"Who I am is not the question. Those are titles, words you cling to as the darkness falls around you. "Sith" is a title, yes, but like you, the title is not who I am. It is not what I believe. For you... it is different."

"It is only through interaction, through decision and choice, through confrontation, physical or mental, that the Force can grow within you."

"And what is it you think you have accomplished? If you seek to aid everyone that suffers in the galaxy, you will only weaken yourself... and weaken them. It is the internal struggles, when fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards. You stole that struggle from them, cheapened it. If you care for others, then dispense with pity and sacrifice and recognise the value in letting them fight their own battles. And when they triumph, they will be even stronger for the victory."

"My warning to you is this - do not rely on your companions to compensate for your weaknesses in skill. There will be times they will not be there to help you when needed. Then my task before you is this - take your greatest weakness, devote effort to it, strengthen it, and I will show you how it shall strengthen your power in the Force."

"Do not see every enemy as an enemy - see them instead as an ally, whether they know it or not."

"I? I am but a mirror, whose only purpose is to show you what your eyes cannot yet see."

"Never doubt what you have done. All your decisions have brought you to this point."

"Your spirit, as diseased as it is, refuses to allow you to give up, no matter what threats you face... and whatever wreckage you leave behind you."

"This wound... it is a physical thing, and will fade with time. It was necessary... some things may only be learned from sacrifice."

"It is all that is left unsaid upon which tragedies are built."

"Manipulation is done through propelling events... or selected ones into motion. It is done through teaching, through example, and through conviction. And the greatest of victories are not manipulations at all but simply awakening others... to the truth of what you believe. Of hearing it echoed around you, in life."

"Direct action is not always the best way. It is a far greater victory to make another see through your eyes than to close theirs forever."

One thing about the game that impressed me was how Kreia's words seemed to be able to find a parallel with the real world, despite being a character in a video game. It's a refreshing surprise, to say the least.

Hahaha! Yeah. Something like that. Houston's something like a hybrid of the wild wild west and a major city. The result? In the center, you have liberals with guns, and the outer rim is a bunch of pacifist conservatives. Wackiness abounds!

ohh... Texas... where the men are men...

and the cattle are scared... :D

Actually, I'm a Houstonian to be more exact. It's a government project designed to engineer hybrids between geeks and rednecks, incorporating traits of both into one. =P
:iconone-tough-one:
humm... a geerneck....

should be interesting to see what that turns out to be...
